Our Quay Place theme for September is the need for meaning and purpose. To explore the importance of meaning and purpose to our mental health and wellbeing we have two information talks this month exploring ways to find resilience and have more meaning to our lives. We have other events in our September programme that can give meaning and purpose to your life visit the website calendar for full details.
Colouring group - Mondays between 2.00pm - 4.00pm
Our adult colouring group is the ideal place to indulge your creative side. Learn about the heritage of the building too by colouring in images all linked to Quay Place. One of our volunteers Judy will be part of the group too so can help advise and encourage if you are new to colouring. A great opportunity to meet new people and chat while colouring! The group is free to join and will meet between 2.00-4.00pm on Monday afternoons. Pre-booking not required just come along if and when you can.
Mondays - Beginner level class 6.15pm
The Monday class will be a mix of flowing sequences to warm the body and awareness of breath, to hold poses/stretches which will encourage flexibility and balance and tone the body. Laughter is encouraged and don’t worry there will be no chanting or headstands. We will close on a guided relaxation to quiet the mind and release stress.
Come and draw at Quay Place - Friday mornings 10.30am - 1.00pm
Do you enjoy drawing? It is fun, relaxing, and helps in developing a feeling of wellness. Colours and shapes are well known to promote emotion in both artists and viewers.

The need for meaning fuels the quest for learning and truth in science and in the world’s philosophical, religious and spiritual traditions. At the same time, in a secular age, a lack of meaning and purpose can leave us vulnerable to mental ill health. In this evening talk we will explore:
Why we are wired to seek meaning and purpose through the power of metaphor
- How finding meaning has helped people survive extreme situations
- How stories from traditional psychology and spiritual traditions can help us to make sense of suffering and find meaning in the face of hardship
