May - Achievement

Each month at Quay Place we have a different theme which relates to an emotional need.  Just as we have physical needs for food, drink, sleep and movement, we have emotional needs too which need to be met for us to stay well. May is all about achievement.

“The journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step – Chinese proverb.
Doesn’t it feel good when we are achieving things, big or small? The feeling that comes from being stretched and challenged has many benefits. Achievement is essential for good emotional health and tells us that we are growing. Achievement comes from being stretched – which is the opposite to being stressed.
Achievement is the antidote to feelings of low self-worth and helps to give us balanced self-esteem. Once we have mastered a skill, the knowledge that we have done so can never be taken away from us. Achievement gives us a sense that we have the competence to handle life when it becomes challenging.
This month we’ll be celebrating your achievements and looking at steps you can take, big and small, to secure good emotional health.”

Colouring Group

Colouring group - Mondays between 2.00pm - 4.00pm 

Our adult colouring group is the ideal place to indulge your creative side.   Learn about the heritage of the building too by colouring in images all linked to Quay Place.  One of our volunteers Judy will be part of the group too so can help advise and encourage if you are new to colouring.    A great opportunity to meet new people and chat while colouring!   All pencils and templates provided.   

The group is free to join and will meet between 2.00-4.00pm on Monday afternoons.   Pre-booking not required just come along if and when you can.


Drawing Project

Come and draw at Quay Place - Friday mornings 10.30am - 1.00pm  

Do you enjoy drawing? It is fun, relaxing, and helps in developing a feeling of wellness. Colours and shapes are well known to promote emotion in both artists and viewers.

Paper, feltpens and pencils are available at the Church and you can drop by and use them when you like. You can draw the building, people around you, or anything else that you want. There are mirrors you can look in if you want to draw yourself, or get a new view of the building.

Hatha / Flow Yoga Class

Mondays - Beginner level class 6.15pm - FREE Trial class offer for new joiners

The Monday class will be a mix of flowing sequences to warm the body and awareness of breath, to hold poses/stretches which will encourage flexibility and balance and tone the body. Laughter is encouraged and don’t worry there will be no chanting or headstands. We will close on a guided relaxation to quiet the mind and release stress.

Mindfulness Pilates™ Class

Tuesdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm

The 6 week programme is for mixed ability mat work connecting mind and body in an holistic workout. Relaxed and friendly session suitable for all levels.   Pre booking essential as limited places.    For more info and to book call 07923 382272 or click here 

Hatha /Introductory Yoga Class

Wednesday - 6.15pm - 7.15pm -

The Wednesay classes are suitable for beginners and those who want to get back into some form of exercise again. To include awareness of breath, held poses and stretches to encourage flexibility, balance, and tone up those core muscles!

We close on a guided relaxation to quiet the mind and release stress.

A Celebration of Peer Support

Tuesday, 23rd May - 10.30-2.30pm

A great event to celebrate peer support in Suffolk!  

As well as being able to find out more about peer support and the benefits this can have on our wellbeing, you can also gain information and support to start your own peer group.  

This is a free event, all welcome.   Refreshments and cake 11.00am - 12.00noon

Achievement and Emotional Wellbeing

Thursday 25th May - 6.00pm to 7.30pm

“Achievement, the sense that we are becoming more competent and capable, is an essential need which has to be met for good emotional wellbeing.  Our monthly information session with Ezra Hewing will explore why achievement is the antidote to feelings of low self-worth and helps give us balanced self-esteem.  We’ll be playing games - some stressful, some stretching - which will help identify the difference between stress and stretch. We’ll also be looking at opportunities to learn new skills, taking small steps to begin with, to get us back on the journey to achievement and a sense of wellbeing!”  To reserve a place email This email address is being protected from spambots. Half Term Family Fun - Explorer Afternoon

Tuesday 30th May and Friday 2nd June - 12.30am to 4.00pm
Looking for something to do this half term?  Come and be an Explorer!

Zhineng Qigong Practice Sessions

Saturday 3rd June
10.00am to 11.00am
This will be taking place at Quay Place, Key Street. Ipswich, IP4 1BZ

Zhineng Qigong is a Chinese form of moving meditation that relaxes the body and frees the mind. Based on the principle that our mind controls our energy, known as Yi Dao Qi Dao, the morning practice sessions will guide you through a sequence of movements that promotes healing, improve circulation and quieten the mental busyness.
No previous experience is required, only a willingness to enjoy and explore this powerful, transformative practice with friends old and new.

No pre booking – just turn up.

Wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict movement.
