Hara Tribal Bellydance teaches and performs an exciting, improvised, folkloric dance called ATS® (American Tribal Style®) Tribal Bellydance. The group has been running since 2010, becoming a certified sister studio in 2013 after Helen completed her General Skills & Teacher Training certificates in Vancouver with ATS® founder Carolena Nerriccio.
We currently run a closed weekly class in Ipswich, but are available for taster sessions and workshops all over the region. Helen is also available for private lessons and collaborations with other dancers and musicians.
We perform regularly as professional level soloists or duet, as well as with our student troupe. We do fast, slow and mixed musicality sets and can also include basket, sword and floor work sets. We have recently set up a sister group, Beltane Fire Tribal, which dances with Fire Palms. Performance highlights include performing to thousands of people at Global Rhythm Festival, Folk East & Harlequin Fayre and to other ATS® dancers in San Francisco. We have also worked with French band, Astrakan Project, Kiss the Mistress and Zambra Project.
Our style of Tribal Bellydance is a modern improvised dance inspired by the folk dances of North Africa, India, Spain and the Middle East. The mesmerizing sounds, hypnotic moves and exotic and authentic costuming and adornment, makes this like nothing else you have seen.
